We started measuring and making our lines.

Then Scotland started taping....( just a little tip to those who paint out there....DO NOT USE the new FROG tape for painting! They say it's the best new stuff out there. It says you don't have to use any silicone caulking stuff that it's already on the tape and it's bleed proof. YA RIGHT!!! We used it and it was awful. It put us back 3 to 4 hours because we had to re-paint using the good ol' blue tape and put caulking on it. That's the best way, don't let any one try to sell you this stuff.)

Then finally around 1:00am we were ready to start painting. Scotland and I had so much fun that night despite how tired we were! Here is a picture of Scot's blue smurf hair. He even had to run to Home Depot for more paint at 6:00am and he went just like that. Such a guy?!

Here is one angle of the finished product! It turned out AMAZING. We love it and Mason loves it even more!! When he first walked in he did a couple turns and looked really confused? Then he started jumping up and down and said WOW! He couldn't believe this was his new room. He even said "Thank you daddy" with out being told. ( Another tip for you painters...If your going to paint checkers hire a professional! Not worth it!! especially when your painting with BLACK paint. This took us the longest and I'm such a perfectionist that it took way too much time then I wanted to spend on that!?!?

Tire clock from Goodwill $3.99....

Toy box that I slapped a couple stickers on from Good will $9.99....

Little table with Chairs from Ike $12.99....

Some paint, pillows and fabric from Walmart...so cheap......

One happy little 2 year old....PRICELESS!!!

Here is a 360' video for Grandma and Grandpa that don't live here that really wanted to see it......(Grandma make sure you go down to the bottom and put the music on pause so you can here Mason talking to you on the video)

Wow! It looks awesome! Gavin would be soooooo jealous. :-)
I love it! What an awesome job you guys did. I'm actually going to do Checkers on Kaylyns one wall but they're going to much larger, I think 12"x12", I haven't decided yet and I think I'm going to do atleast 4 different colors. Although now after reading your blog I'm alittle intimated.
You did an awesome job, that is so much work. Can't wait to see it in person. We just bought Elise new bedding, can't wait to figure out what we're doing with her room.
That's incredible! Those checks are such a cute idea. Hey, in the future if you do anything like that again, you really don't need to use the caulking. If you take the base paint (the white in the case of your checks) and paint over the edges of the tape, then let it dry, it creates a seal and then you can paint over with the black and it won't leak through. The nice thing about that is that it won't leave a raised area like the caulking does. Great job on his room, I'd love to see it in person. Very cool.
WOW!!! Super awesome! Dave and I love it.(I need to post his handy work he did for Madison room) What great guys we have! And they are pretty lucky too!
I am so impressed! His room looks so professional! Great job!

You guys are awesome to stay up all night and paint!! Wish I could have seen his face!!
Very fun room! Every little boy's fantasy. I love the clock. It was much better to see it in living color in the video--flashing lights and all!
