My Nano's Funeral

This last week I flew to Bakersfield CA to attend my grandma's (Nano) funeral. I wasn't going to miss it since I didn't get to attend my grandpa's (papo's) funeral. I'm so glad I was able to go and that I have a great husband that was willing and able to be Mr. Mom for a few days.

My trip was so spiritual and amazing. The funeral was so beautiful and there were allot of friends and family that attended.





Me and my parents and brother. It was so good to see my brother there as well. He flew all the way from South Carolina to be at this funeral and it was good to catch up and reminisce about old memories there in Bakersfield with him.




It was a grave side service and it was perfect! Beautiful weather!

Then I read a poem that Nano's mom wrote to her own kids when she knew she was nearing the end of her earthly life and it seemed so prefect to read at Nano's funeral to her kids now left behind that were there. I also read some of my memories that I have of Nano and a short poem I wrote her as well.


Then it was my brothers turn. He read his own memories and then some of my sisters memories as well since she was unable to attend.

My cousin Tawnie was next reading hers and her sisters memories that were unable to attend. They are at college right now in Hawaii.


Last my dad gave a very touching talk at the end that was a perfect way to end the funeral.


After we all visited for a bit and said our thanks to everyone that attended.






They then carried her over to her final resting spot....




She is buried right next to her husband....now they will never be separated again.

It was a sad but also joyful day that our Nano is finally in Heaven with her sweetheart and her Heavenly Father and suffering no more. She is our guardian angel now and we are all comforted to know we will see her again if we live accordingly to be a forever family.


After we all went out to eat at Nano's favorite place. Good 'ol Hometown buffet. She would take us there every time we would come visit her.


Those bunny ears sneaking up behind my brother is NOT from me....my old aunt Terrie is the one to blame for that!?

We love and miss you Nano and we cant wait for the day when we will meet again!
