BOY; a noise with dirt on it

A Mother of Boys

Hand prints on cupboards
and shoes in the hall.
Toilet seat's up and there's
mud on the wall.

Every sports channel to
them will appeal,
And the front room doubles
as a football field.

The shelves in the kitchen
are continually bare.
There's toys on the couch
and jeans on the chair.

Wrestling and mud and
cars and noise,
I'm sure you can guess I'm
the MOTHER of BOYS!!!

Its really hitting me that I'm going to be raising 3 boys!? If I think my grocery bill is high now I can't imagine what it will be when they are all in high school. If I think I'm doing constant laundry now then I wonder how many loads I'll be doing when they are all in sports and no matter how many times I say "you didn't put the toilet seat down" I feel like I'm actually the one that should be putting it back up when I'm done!? Oh well this is going to be a fun adventure and I guess a little dirt never hurt anyone.

They all better know how to treat a girl so just think they can practice on their Mom ALL the time !!!

Your poem was so tender and sweet. SO TRUE!!! I loved raising boys. A girl will judge the boys on how well they treat their mother. You are a wonderful MOTHER! Soccer, football, and all kinds of sports. What a team!

Ha ha... that poem was cute and I can TOTALLY relate to the feeling. Three boys? Seriously... they already eat us out of the house, and they're not teenagers yet, and as for laundry? I've done four loads in 1 1/2 days. Ugh. And I couldn't help but laugh about the toilet seat situation. Surely, the least they can manage for the only girl in the house is to put it down. :)
